環(huán)球教育顏王團(tuán)楊亮老師奉上教育類(lèi)詞匯第二波,整理這些詞匯的時(shí)候,心猿意馬,洋洋灑灑。有些時(shí)候,難免扯得有些遠(yuǎn)了,筆者盡量回歸本質(zhì),恪守主題,與各位攜手攻克詞匯和論點(diǎn)匱乏之難關(guān)。
1.教育類(lèi)的話(huà)題,往往都會(huì)對(duì)于學(xué)生的范圍有明確的規(guī)定。例如只討論中學(xué)生,或者大學(xué)生的話(huà)題等等。往往題干中會(huì)對(duì)討論的對(duì)象做明確要求,或者是通過(guò)年齡來(lái)限制范圍。
例如,小學(xué)階段開(kāi)始學(xué)習(xí)外語(yǔ)較好還是中學(xué)階段開(kāi)始學(xué)習(xí)外語(yǔ)較好。因此如下詞匯需要考生們必須了解:
Childcare centers托兒所/育兒中心
Kindergarten,preschool幼兒園/學(xué)前班(尤其是后者,往往指學(xué)前班)
Primary school,elementary school小學(xué)
Secondary school,middle school一般指的是中學(xué)階段
Junior middle school,初中
Senior middle,high school,senior high school,senior middle school,都指高中
University,college都是大學(xué),通常在雅思寫(xiě)作中兩者并無(wú)本質(zhì)區(qū)別
Undergraduate college,本科階段
Postgraduate college,研究生階段
2.Shape a positive world view/develop positive value system前者表示塑造一個(gè)積極的世界觀,而后者的意思是發(fā)展一個(gè)積極的價(jià)值觀。兩個(gè)短語(yǔ)在教育類(lèi)寫(xiě)作中,都被認(rèn)為是現(xiàn)代教育的功能之一。
Besides academic knowledge,modern schooling can substantially help students develop positive value system,which is thought by educators much more significant than other things that students can gain in schools.
在學(xué)校,建立積極的價(jià)值觀才是最重要的,其他的都是浮云。這個(gè)論點(diǎn)是告訴大家,學(xué)術(shù)教育可不是學(xué)校教育的全部。
3.Versatile形容詞,多才多藝的。與其類(lèi)似的詞匯還有all-round形容詞,全面的(名詞形式all-rounder多面手),以及generalist名詞,多面手。
In this competitive society,versatile workforce with fairly high comprehensive quality is what most of employers are seeking for,instead of fresh graduates who are only equipped with theoretical knowledge.
在這個(gè)競(jìng)爭(zhēng)激烈的社會(huì),光懂點(diǎn)理論知識(shí)是混不下去的,必須要有很強(qiáng)的綜合素質(zhì)才可以出人頭地的。如果需要論證為什么大學(xué)畢業(yè)生就業(yè)率低,就可以使用這個(gè)論點(diǎn)。

4.Self-discipline名詞,自律。Self-control名詞,自控。discipline名詞,紀(jì)律。
其實(shí),遵守紀(jì)律是有好處的:
School discipline(rules)is thought to be the key factor for students to develop(build)their self-discipline and self-control.遵守紀(jì)律了,以后就能自律還能自控。其實(shí)我也不信,但是這不重要。
5.在教育類(lèi)的話(huà)題中,其實(shí)關(guān)于語(yǔ)言的學(xué)習(xí)也是經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)在討論之列。如下幾個(gè)詞,供大家參考:
linguist名詞,語(yǔ)言學(xué)家,說(shuō)多種語(yǔ)言的人
bilingual名詞,講雙語(yǔ)的人。形容詞,雙語(yǔ)的,如:bilingual education
multilingual名詞,說(shuō)多國(guó)語(yǔ)言的人。形容詞,多國(guó)語(yǔ)言的。
Bilingual education,where children are all taught in both English and their mother tongue,is much sought after by parents in non-English speaking countries.
